Burn Out 2008
For the 5th time, the Italian biker magazine Noise scores a goal, and welcomes more than 16,000 enthusiasts beyond the gates of the exhibition “Burn Out”, the 2nd most important biker and motorcycle fair in all of Italy. And we of Bikers World were there to tell you something more about it…
It began in 2004, and it’s rapidly become one of the most important indoor events in Italy: we are talking about the fair Burn Out, that also this year has been organized in the Italian region of South Tyrol, in the weekend of February 22-24. And during this edition, thousands of visitors have reached this corner of deep north Italy (very close to the border with Austria) to see what the market of motorcycle brands has to offer, in addition to dream with show bikes of any kind, and (why not?) to let one’s own wallet get out of the pocket to begin the new riding season with a new outfit or to buy some new accessories for one own’s iron horse, calmly sleeping into the garage at house. Of course, if it comes to the first category we’ve been talking about, there is much to say: at Burn Out there were the stands of the most important local motorcycle dealers (including Harley-Davidson, for the first time at this exhibition with a nice area), and many were the enthusiast that could see “live” which their next motorbike will be. Ducati held a show on Sunday afternoon to introduce the new Monster (a red beauty astride which sat Bettina, Miss Sueditrol 2007, along with Giancarlo Falappa, a great pilot of the Italian bike during competitions of the past decade), but important were also the stands from Triumph, Honda, Bimota and Moto Guzzi with the new models for 2008. We can say that also bikers could see a lot, here at Burn Out, with many real dream bikes that were a continuous target for the many flashes of the photographers of several biker magazines from Europe that reached the event. We can mention the two long creatutes of Crazy Chopper, for example, or the many big twins from Biker Sheriff, a customizer which is well know in all of Italy: the respective bikes “Cristina II” and “Gold Sheriff” attracted enthusiastic bikers close to them, astride which wonderful girls from the model-agency “Monica Cheyenne” sat languishing. Area76 from Milan had a complete bike Big Twin built from zero during the three days Burn Out lasted, and also the customized Moto Guzzi of Bepi from Turin had many eyes upon, with new technical solutions for the lovers of the Italian bike. But the good bikes were not on display only at the single customizers’ stands: a bunch of nice motorcyles were visible at the bike show, that included some nice old Harleys (and a Henderson) plus Guzzis, jap motorcycles and naked bikes. The outdoor shows were amazing, on top of which we must mention the quad stunt show of Uwe Naumann and René Großmann, two stunt-men form Berlin that really demonstrated how the law of gravity is not a problem for some people on this world, but also there was the possibility to test the new bikes of Yamaha, Suzuki and Ducati at the public and free demo rides… Indoor, you could take a look to the session of body painting carried out by the local artist Sacha, by the physical resistance contest (won by a Macedonian citizen that lives and works in South Tyrol) and by the continuous concert of Nice Price, a good local band that played live three times a day with nice Country, old Rock and Blues songs. Not only dealers or accessories and clothing vendors were here at Burn Out, but also the one of the local Motorcycle Patrol of Bolzano City Police (with the cops offering good wine and local food) and some stands from the local Clubs, among which we must mention Black Devils MC Italy (with also some wooooonderful lap dance shows), the Oldtimer Club of Pusteria Valley and the Moto Club Egna-Neumarkt, really hostful people to whom it was a pleasure to talk, people that you could also meet on Saturday night at the closing time of the fair, when the big party for everyone opened at first floor once the fair shut his doors down. Many were also the visitors to the local stand of Noise, the organizing magazine, in which you could meet Mr. Italo Barazzutti, a biker from Udine who is very famous in Italy for riding overland (and completely alone) from northeast Italy to Mongolia (and back) in 2001 and from Italy to China in 2005 astride his 1986 Honda 1200 Goldwing (plus a bunch of other incredible trips alone with no support vehicles) The prizes give-away of the Sunday afternoon for the bike show (in which also we of Bikers World have been awarded!) were only the prelude to the drawing of the lottery, that let three lucky guys win a MV Agusta Brutale 910S as top prize plus a 1000 € and 500 € prize to be spent at the local dealer RinoMotor’s. Well, what can we say? On a surface of over 12,000 square meters and 130 exhibitors, Burn Out has been an extremely interesting show that we suggest you to visit next year. We had our own stand there as well, so we could see everything from the beginning to the end, and we had impression of a small but promising event here in this corner of Alps. See you next year in Bolzano, guys!
